Bang on a Can Marathon Live Online

Bang on a Can hosting second Marathon livestream with over 40 artists

Earlier this year, Bang on a Can‘s long-running Bang on a Can Marathon found a temporary new home on the Internet due to the coronavirus pandemic, in the form of a six hour livestream featuring over 40 artists.

Now they’re hosting another marathon, six-hour livestream, happening on Sunday, June 14th, (from 3-9 PM EST. It begins with a performance by Rhiannon Giddens and concludes with a set from composer and minimalist icon Terry Riley. Throughout the entire stream, you can catch performances from artists from all around the world, including Mark Stewart, Nadia Sirota, Shara Nova (aka My Brightest Diamond), Helena Tulve, Ted Hearne, Carla Kihlstedt, Susana Hancock, Tomeka Reid, Nico Muhly, Roscoe Mitchell, and many others, including 10 world premieres exclusive to the Bang on a Can Marathon.

The stream is free to watch, and Bang on a Can encourages viewers to purchase a ticket to support the artists, the platform, and a cause they have chosen to highlight:

Bang on a Can is donating 10% of each ticket purchased to Equal Justice Initiative in support of their “commitment to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting the basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.”

You can watch via Bang on a Can’s website, on their Facebook, or YouTube. You can also browse the day’s performance schedule below:
