Vermont proggy sludge metallers Barishi are on tour now with Ether Coven (having recently played Brooklyn's Saint Vitus, also with WVRM and Zombie Apocalypse), and now in the midst of that tour, they've announced their first new album in four years. It's called Old Smoke and it drops April 24 via Season of Mist. Going by the ten-plus-minute lead single "Blood Aurora," these guys still rip, and they're also continuing to go in new directions. It's a harsher, deathier take on their usual sludge/prog mix and almost reminds me a little of Inter Arma, but as always, Barishi make it their own. (And actually, they made the album with frequent Inter Arma collaborator Mikey Allred.) It's a ripper and you can hear it below.

Speaking of WVRM, they announced a tour with Napalm Death earlier this week.

1. The Silent Circle
2. Blood Aurora
3. The Longhunter
4. Cursus Ablaze
5. Entombed in Gold Forever
6. Old Smoke
