Basilica Soundscape

Basilica Soundscape 2017 lineup (Zola Jesus, Thou, Priests, Protomartyr, more)

The annual, highly unique Hudson, NY festival Basilica Soundscape returns this year from September 15-17 to its usual home of Basilica Hudson. It was once again curated by the venue’s founders and creative directors, Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) and filmmaker Tony Stone, with The Creative Independent‘s Brandon Stosuy. This year, previous BSS creative director Michael Renaud is back, and Brandon’s former Pitchfork coworker Jenn Pelly is a guest curator.

The lineup is as impressive, diverse, and off the beaten path as usual, with ambient collective Bing & Ruth, Fuck Buttons offshoot Blanck Mass, Tunisian protest singer Emel Mathlouthi, footwork musician Jlin, avant-pop musician John Maus, experimental rapper Moor Mother, political post-punks Priests, cynical post-punks Protomartyr, orchestral R&B musician serpentwithfeet, sludge metallers Thou, black metallers Yellow Eyes, and goth-pop staple Zola Jesus.

There are also readings by veteran poet/writer Eileen Myles, Twitter personality-turned-author Darcie Wilder, and Hole/Upset drummer Patty Schemel, plus visual art by Emma Kohlmann, Jesse Draxler, Marianne Vitale, and Naama Tsabar.

Early-bird tickets are on sale now.
