Beach Slang

Beach Slang cover The Jesus & Mary Chain and Hope Sandoval (listen)

Beach Slang will release their next covers mixtape, Here I Made This For You Mixtape Volume II, on February 10 via Polyvinyl, and today they shared their take on The Jesus and Mary Chain‘s “Sometimes Always.” The original, which appears on 1994’s Stoned & Dethroned, is a duet between JAMC’s Jim Reid and Mazzy Star singer Hope Sandoval. Singing Hope’s parts on Beach Slang’s cover is Beach Slang’s tour manager Charlie Lowe (who also took the above photo). She and James Alex sound pretty great together, as you can hear below.

As mentioned, Beach Slang are touring with Minus the Bear (who have a new album coming), including their NYC show at Webster Hall on March 28. Tickets for that show are still available.

Beach Slang aren’t on MTB’s other NYC show, Music Hall of Williamsburg on 3/29, though Bayonne are on both. Tickets for MHOW are still available too.
