2011 has been a pretty big year for the marriage of R&B vocals and downtempo beats with debuts from Jamie Woon, The Weeknd, and many other post-James Blake singer/producers. One of the more recent groups to embrace this trend is Brooklyn duo Beacon (Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett), who played Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival last week and are releasing their EP, No Body, today (11/15) via Moodgadget Records. The duo reach pretty high points on the beat oriented tracks like EP opener “See Through You,” but when they opt for the more vocal-led cuts like “Girl in a Coma” they can sound a little too much like the ambient side of Coldplay. You can stream the entire EP below, along with a trailer video and the artwork, and download the title track above.

They’ll celebrate the release of the EP with an album release party TONIGHT (11/15) at Glasslands with Paul Duncan (of Warm Ghost), Redaelli, Todd Sines, and Heathered Pearls (DJ). Tickets are available.
