Bedouine shares "When You're Gone," touring

We named Bedouine (aka Azniv Korkejian) one of the best new-ish artists of 2017 off the strength of her self-titled debut album, and though there’s no word on a followup album yet, she did just release the new single “When You’re Gone,” so hopefully that means one is on the way. Like most of her debut album, “When You’re Gone” is a throwback to the rustic folk sounds of ’60s/’70s Laurel Canyon, and Bedouine continues to excel at this kind of thing. Here’s what she says about it (via Stereogum):

When I started “When You’re Gone” I was just messing around with pretty chords. Then the lyrics spontaneously came to me much later when I read something on Instagram, which is kind of hilarious. It triggered a line that eventually rolled out the entire song. In retrospect I think it reflects on the time since I’ve released my first record; in nondescript hotel rooms alone or getting dropped off a cliff after tour is over, not exactly sure what to do with myself. It also touches on what that can mean when it comes to the people you’re closest to. My favorite part may be the delicate intro that’s tucked away in the record as a hidden track.

As mentioned, Bedouine has tour dates coming up, including SXSW, the Emerge festival, and a NYC show on June 6 at Rough Trade. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (3/8) at noon. All dates are listed below.
