The Bernie Sanders campaign has been hitting hard in NYC leading up to day's crucial NY state primary election, with rallies featuring prominent indie bands Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear and TV on the Radio. California, whose potentially even more crucial presidential primary is in June, will soon be feeling the Bern and campaign events with musical themes are already cropping up. On Thursday (4/21) and Friday (4/22) in Old Town Coachella, CA there will be a block party called "Berniechella" featuring performances by Moses Sumney, Ozomatli, and more, plus DJs like Shepard Fairey who also designed the poster above. It's free and more info is here.

This is happening, of course, right outside Coachella (whose second weekend is this weekend)  and Berniechella organizers are obviously hoping to get some of the attendees on their way to the fest. They're also hoping Bernie himself will show up, but he has yet to confirm he'll attend.

Shepard Fairey, like Jeff Tweedy, Dan Campbell of the Wonder Years, Belinda Carlisle, Lou Barlow, Mike Gordon, Thurston Moore, Mike Watt, and many others, is an "Artist and Cultural Leader For Bernie Sanders".
