'Best of Big Star' comp out in June (listen to an rare mix of "In the Street")

Memphis cult rock icons Big Star are getting a new best-of compilation which will be out June 16 via the Craft Recordings label. The 16-track compilation is on two 45 PRM discs in a gatefold sleeve, with lacquers cut at Ardent Studios and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Memphis Record Pressing. It’s also got some rare mixes and edits of songs, and new liner notes from Grammy Award-winning writer and director Robert Gordon, plus an introduction by drummer Jody Stephens (the band’s sole surviving original member). We’re got the premiere of a rare single mix of “In the Street” (the song that was later covered by Cheap Trick for the That ’70s Show theme) which is the opening cut. Listen to that below.
