Portishead's Beth Gibbons teasing long awaited new solo album?

Portishead vocalist Beth Gibbons signed to Domino Records in 2013 to release a solo album, but details have been scarce since then; not surprising, considering she and Portishead both tend to work slowly. But suddenly, there have been some promising signs that new music from Beth may be finally coming soon! She opened a new Instagram account with a single post so far, which you can see above; it appears to be her with Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki.

She also updated her webpage, which is linked from her Instagram. As of right now it just says “coming soon” and links to a sign up for her mailing list. 2019 keeps getting more and more exciting, musically speaking.

Meanwhile, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow released his third album with Beak>, >>>, last year. Portishead’s last album was 2008’s Third.

Looking for 1994’s Dummy on vinyl? Vinyl Me Please is currently running a Valentine’s Day sale on that, and select other titles (Mazzy Star, Massive Attack, The Cure, The xx & more included).

Last year, Beth joined Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins and others to contribute vocals to Clarion Call, a large-scale outdoor art project on the Ipswitch Waterfront at Spill Festival.
