Big Thief UFOF

Big Thief sign to 4AD for new album 'U.F.O.F,' share title track, touring

Big Thief have signed to 4AD and announced the followup to 2017’s excellent Capacity, which came out on Saddle Creek. Their new album is called U.F.O.F., and it comes out on May 3 via their new label home (pre-order). They tracked the album live with engineer Dom Monks at the “cabin-like” Bear Creek Studios in rural western Washington, and it was produced by Andrew Sarlo, who also worked on their previous albums.

The title track is out now, and it adds a slight dream pop touch to the crackling indie folk that Big Thief are best known for. It’s good stuff, and you can hear it for yourself below. Full tracklist below too.

Big Thief will also be supporting the album with an extensive tour, including two previously announced NYC shows at the soon-to-reopen Webster Hall on October 10 and 11. Tickets for those shows go on sale Friday (3/1) at noon. An AmEx presale is underway now and a Spotify presale starts Wednesday (2/27) at 10 AM.

Big Thief also play a newly-added NYC album release show at Elsewhere Hall on May 5 with Lomelda. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday at noon too. All dates are listed below.

Last year, Big Thief singer Adrianne Lenker released her very good solo album abysskiss. Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek also released a self-titled solo album and just followed it last week with the new song “Halo Light.” He’s touring with Jeff Tweedy starting Wednesday.
