Billy Bragg is doing an hour-long livestream today at 3 PM Eastern (8 PM UK time) which is a benefit for Sheffield, UK venue The Leadmill. The livestream is part of the UK charity Music Venue Trust's #SaveOurVenues campaign.

UPDATE: You can watch the full archived livestream below. Like most Billy Bragg shows, he mixed songs with stories and his banter is definitely half the appeal. That said, his set was loaded with classics, opening with "Sexuality," and also playing "The Only One," "A Lover Sings," "Valentine's Day is Over," "Upfield," "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key" (from Mermaid Avenue), "Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards" with almost entirely new lyrics, and finishing with "There is Power in a Union" which was dedicated to teachers. Warming up for today's show, Billy played of the hymn "Jerusalem," based on William Blake's poem, which he shared on YouTube with this note:

I read recently that members of the Women’s Institute in our village have been sewing protective garments for the staff at the Harbour House Care Home in nearby West Bay. While the NHS begins to get on top of the virus, residents and staff of care homes continue to be infected at an alarming rate and the lack of PPE for staff remains a scandal. Give them their PPE!

Blake’s Jerusalem is the anthem of the WI, so I decided to play the tune in our back garden during the Thursday #ClapForCarers in thanks for the efforts of the WI and those of everyone who has stepped up in the spirit of social solidarity to help their community get through these challenging times.

You can watch that below.
