Black Anvil will 'Hail Death' on new LP in May (stream a track)

NYC black/death stalwarts Black Anvil are usually a fixture on the local live metal circuit, but they’ve been relatively quiet recently while working on the follow-up to their 2010 Relapse debut, Triumvirate. The gestation period is over now — the new album, titled Hail Death, will come out on May 27.

The band have released a leadoff single from the album. “Eventide” more or less stays the course that Black Anvil first charted on Triumvirate, but the band’s trad-metal lean is even more pronounced now than it has been in the past. This is big-venue-ready stuff — I could see this tune going over extremely well with a huge, boozy European festival crowd.
