Black Star, the legendary rap duo of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def), were recently spotted in the studio with Kanye West, and now Yasiin Bey announced on stage at a recent Madlib DJ set that new Black Star is coming in 2018, produced by Madlib. HipHopDX posted a recording of Yasiin's announcement. He said, "New Black Star with Madlib, Talib Kweli, Yasiin, coming soon! All Madlib, all day. 2018, Madlib, Black Star. Madlib Black Star." If this is indeed a new album, it'll be the long-awaited followup to their 1998 debut, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star. Listen to the clip below.

Talib Kweli is also touring, including two full-band hometown shows at Brooklyn Bowl in April (tickets).

Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star just came in at #13 on Pitchfork's 50 Best Albums of 1998 list that they did to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that year. Neutral Milk Hotel came in at #4 with In The Aeroplane Over The Sea (which turned 20 two days ago). Can you guess #1?
