The Blue Note Jazz Festival is back for its 5th year in NYC, taking over venues across the city throughout the month of June. The festival brings a wide array of music to the city, not just strictly jazz.

A few of this year's highlights include:

Ginger Baker with Pee Wee Ellis, Alec Dankworth and Abass Doodoo at B.B. King Blues Club on June 17 & 18 (tickets)

Robert Glasper Trio at Blue Note Jazz Club on June 24-27 (tickets)

Buddy Guy at B.B. King Blues Club on June 9 & 10 (tickets)

Meshell Ndegeocello, Roy Hargrove and Gabriel Garzon-Montano for a free show Central Park Summerstage on June 6

Kathleen Battle at Blue Note Jazz Club on June 11 (tickets)

There's plenty of other artists playing the festival including Hot Lips Morant performing the music of Louis Armstrong, Abdullah Ibrahim, Savion Glover, Bebel Gilberto, Al Di Meola, The Bad Plus, Natalie Cole, and many more. Full schedule and information for the festival can be found here.

Blue Note Jazz Fest is also presenting its 7th annual Gary U.S. Bonds Birthday Bash with special guests at B.B. King Blues Club on June 16. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
