Bonny Light Horseman -- the new supergroup of Anais Mitchell, Eric D Johnson (Fruit Bats), and The National/Craig Finn/Hiss Golden Messenger collaborator Josh Kaufman -- recently released their debut single (a cover of their namesake song, a traditional folk song) -- and now they have announced their self-titled debut album, due January 25 via 37d03d Records. It was produced by Josh Kaufman, and features a mix of traditionals and originals, including the previously released "Bonny Light Horseman" and the just-released original "Deep In Love." The band says this one is "a Fruit Bats sketch, until Kaufman recognized its uncanny (and unplanned) similarity to a traditional tune by that name (it shares some lyrics with ‘Waly Waly’ / ‘The Water Is Wide’). What you hear is the first and only take of the song, recorded in the wee hours of a midwinter’s night at Dreamland Studio in Woodstock, NY." It's a very pretty folk rock song and you can hear it below.

UPDATE: The full album is out. Read our review, and watch the band perform three songs on CBS This Saturday Morning.

BLH also announced a 2020 tour, including shows in LA, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, the UK, DC, Philly, Brooklyn, Woodstock, and Burlington.
