Bob Nanna

Braid's Bob Nanna releasing acoustic solo LP, shares "Do You Want To Buy A Guitar?"

Emo/indie lifer Bob Nanna is always up to one thing or another — be it Braid, Hey Mercedes, The City On Film, Lifted Bells or one of the several other projects he’s involved with — and in 2020, he’ll release a new solo album under his own name. Details like album title and release date are still TBA, but he just shared what will be the album’s lead single, “Do You Want To Buy A Guitar?” It’s a personal, somber, bare-bones acoustic song, and according to a press release, the whole album is in this style. About a year after his divorce, Bob recorded the entire thing acoustically in one day on September 7, the day that would have been his wedding anniversary. He says:

“’Do You Want to Buy a Guitar?’ is the first of 10 songs that document the highs and lows of a one year-long story. It’s autobiographical and I purposely awaited a positive resolution before I decided to complete the project.

It’s a beautiful song, as you can hear for yourself below. Stay tuned for more on the album.
