Montreal’s Braids played their first of three CMJ week shows yesterday (10/17) at Pianos for the Tell All Your Friends day party. This was NYC’s first second taste (they played ATP NY a couple weeks ago) of the the now-trio’s new sound that is almost entirely electronic, veering into house, techno and, yes, dubstep. Pictures from their set are in this post.

You have two more chances to see Braids this week, including the BrooklynVegan not-CMJ day party at Public Assembly on Friday (10/19) where they’ll headline the front room at 5 PM. Fun starts at noon, and is 100%. Do stop by.

The other show Braids have lined up this week is on Saturday (10/20) at Bowery Ballroom with Weekend, Forma and headliners Wild Nothing. Tickets are still available or you can try and get in with a CMJ badge.

Meanwhile, Blue Hawaii (side project of Braids’ Raphaelle Standell-Preston) will be playing some CMJ shows too, including the Sam Mickens CMJ party at Bowery Electric on October 18; the M for Montreal showcase at Arlene’s Grocery on October 19;  and the Arbutus Records Showcase at Death by Audio on October 20.
