Breanna Barbara releasing 'Mirage Dreams,' playing shows (one with Deer Tick & Margo Price)

Brooklyn’s Breanna Barbara has a couple albums on Bandcamp, and now she’s set to release her proper debut, Mirage Dreams, on July 22 via No Roads. Four songs from the album are out now, and all of them make this album seem pretty promising. It’s swaggering, smoky blues rock, with fuzzed-out riffs, organs, and Breanna’s attitude-fueled voice leading the way. It was produced by Andrija Tokic, who’s also worked with Alabama Shakes, and it features backing vocals and keys from Ben Trimble of the Shakes’ pals Fly Golden Eagle, plus vocals by Jem Cohen of The Ettes, and more. If you dig Alabama Shakes and other stuff up that alley, there’s a good chance you’ll dig this too. Listen to all four songs below.

Breanna has a few dates coming up, including the free Hudson RiverStage (Pier 97) show this Saturday (7/16) with the great lineup of Deer Tick, Margo Price and Anais Mitchell. That’s a day show, going from 2-9 PM, and again, it’s totally free.

After that, Breanna plays a record release show the day her album comes out at Berlin (7/22) with Roya, BOYTOY and Casey Hopkins. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

She’s also one of the American artists on the New York edition of China’s Modern Sky Festival, which happens on Governors Island this September. She also plays the Helsinki edition in August. All dates are listed below.
