Brit Floyd – 40 Years of The Wall

Brit Floyd touring '40 Years of The Wall' ++ more Pink Floyd-related news

In 2018, prolific Pink Floyd covers act Brit Floyd embarked on a massive 113-date world tour in support of their Eclipse live show. Accompanied by a million-dollar light show and setlists averaging 25 classic Pink Floyd songs, this tour reasserted their dominance, both visually and musically, in a Pink Floyd tribute game that has no shortage of participants. At this point, they are truly untouchable, rivaled only hypothetically by an actual Pink Floyd reunion that will surely never happen. Since 2012 they’ve set out on yearly world tours packed with 100-plus dates each, with 2015 and 2017 tipping the scales at 147 gigs and 144 gigs respectively. And all it takes is about a minute at one of their shows to understand this massive demand. From the ground up, this collective of musicians and technicians have elevated the concept of cover bands to a plateau that’s maybe one toke or one drop acid away from being the real thing. Scale-wise, think 1994’s Division Bell tour on a somewhat more intimate level. For me, it is one of the most consistently satisfying and mesmerizing concert experiences out there.

In keeping with this yearly tradition of relentless touring, Brit Floyd are embarking on the 40 Years of The Wall tour which will act as a survey of one of rock’s most important albums (which turns 40 this November), interspersed with other classics from Pink Floyd’s legendary canon. The tour kicks off on Friday March 22 and will eventually touch down at The Beacon Theatre on April 1. There are only a handful of tickets left, so get them before they’re gone. And between you and me, for this spectacle you don’t want to be close to the stage. Get a mid-venue seat so you can really soak in the spectacle. Complete North American tour dates are below, as well as some pics and videos.

In other news: original Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, the only member to be around for all iterations of the band since their inception, is on tour now and will hit Beacon Theatre on April 18 & 19. Tickets for both shows are still available. Whereas Brit Floyd barely dip into Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd tunes, Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets plays ONLY the early hits, up to and including 1972’s Obscured By Clouds and nothing beyond.

Speaking of Barrett-era Pink Floyd, their sophomore album A Saucerful of Secrets is getting a deluxe mono vinyl reissue for Record Store Day 2019, much like they did for RSD2018 with their debut masterpiece Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

And while your at it, don’t forget that I was somehow granted the honor of interviewing the great Roger Waters a few weeks ago. Read that epic interview here.
