'Broad City' announces final season (which won't air till 2019)

All good things must come to an end and Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson just announced that the upcoming fifth season of Broad City would be the show’s last:

Broad City has been our baby and first love for almost ten years, since we started as a web series. It’s been a phenomenal experience, and we’ve put ourselves into it completely. Broad City’s always had a spontaneous pace and feeling, and ending after season five honors that spirit. We are very excited to bring new voices and points of view to Comedy Central and continue our collaboration together in new ways.

More sad news, that final season won’t air till 2019 (what are they, Game of Thrones?). On the plus side, Deadline reports Glazer and Jacobson did sign a new development deal with Comedy Central, giving the network (and other networks under the Viacom umbrella, like CBS) first-look.

Meanwhile, Abbi Jacobson stars in new Netflix film 6 Balloons, which premiered on the streaming service last week, and Ilana has a bunch of NYC live comedy appearances this month, including many YQY shows with Pheobe Robinson.
