Brooklyn's Rips ready debut (listen to "Delay"), playing Alphaville with Seattle's VATS (who are on tour)

Brooklyn band Rips have been making a name for themselves over the last couple years, drawing influence from late ’70s NYC bands like Television, The Feelies (NJ, yes), and Student Teachers. The band are putting the finishing touches on their debut album which was produced by Parquet Courts’ Austin Brown. Release date is still TBA but you can check out two tracks from the LP, including “Delay” — a driving number that isn’t miles away from what Parquet Courts do. That song makes its premiere in this post and you can stream it, along with “Losing II,” below.

Meanwhile, you can catch Rips live in NYC on Sunday, July 24 at Alphaville with Seattle band VATS, Juicy, and HVAC. Tickets are on sale and flyer is below.

VATS are currently on tour in support of their new album Green Glass Room which has some snarly, noisy postpunk vibes going on. You can stream a couple songs off the album and check out their full list of tour dates below.
