Bruce Springsteen opened Saturday's Barclays show with "Purple Rain" (video, setlist, pics)

UPDATE: Bruce is giving the Prince song away.

Saturday (4/23), Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band played their first of two sold-out shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays center. In tribute to Prince, who died on Thursday, they opened the show with a six-minute cover of “Purple Rain,” as the stage was lit in violet. Bruce, who was wearing a purple scarf as well, shouted as they finished, “Prince forever! God Bless!” Video of that is below.

These Barclays shows are the final dates of The Boss’ “The River” tour where they’re playing that 1980 double album in full, followed by a second set of other favorites, and at Saturday’s show, a five song encore. He and the band play Barclays again on Monday, April 25. Full setlist and a few Instagram pics below.
