Built to Spill‘s current tour spilled into NYC on Friday (9/16) for a BrooklynVegan-presented show at Irving Plaza with tourmates Hop Along and Alex G. The indie rock vets are currently touring as a trio, with Steve Gere (drums) and Jason Albertini (bass) joining frontman Doug Martsch, and their Irving set mixed favorites like “Carry the Zero,” “Twin Falls,” “Time Trap” and “Untrustable” with newer material, including last year’s very good Untethered Moon, plus a cover of CCR’s “Effigy.” Setlist is below.
Speaking of covers, Hop Along covered The Weeknd’s “The Hills” as part of their blazing set. Instagram video of that is below, and pictures of them, Alex G and Built to Spill at Irving Plaza are in the gallery above.
Built to Spill, Hop Along and Alex G will be back in NYC on October 5 at Brooklyn Bowl (tickets) as well as an Asbury Park show on October 8 at The Stone Pony (tickets). Remaining tour dates are listed below.
