Buzzcocks, Thurston Moore & more playing Pete Shelley tribute in London

Thurston Moore, The Damned’s Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Peter Perrett (Only Ones) and more will perform as part of a tribute to Buzzcocks’ Pete Shelley at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 21. The show was originally supposed to be Buzzcocks headlining a night of punk pioneers, but following Pete Shelley’s death in December, the show has been reimagined as a tribute with those guests and more playing with surviving members of Buzzcocks. Additionally, the band’s original era rhythm section, drummer John Maher and bassist Steve Garvey, will also play with the band, as will members of the night’s opening groups, The Skids and Penetration. The night is hosted by music journalist Paul Morley.

In other news: Buzzcocks’ Singles Going Steady and Another Kind of Tension are getting vinyl/CD reissues on June 14.
