Cameron Esposito streaming 'Rape Jokes' standup special to benefit RAINN

Six months ago, Cameron Esposito began work on a comedy special about sexual assault from the perspective of a survivor. She worked on the material in front of small audiences through seven cities, then taped the special over two sets at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA. On June 11, she released Rape Jokes through her website, where it’s streaming for free, and available for purchase with a donation to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network).

True to its name, Rape Jokes talks about rape, but Cameron touches on lots of other subjects over the course of the hour-long special, too. She bridges the personal — growing up in a strict Catholic household, realizing she was gay, getting her first period (there’s a particularly hilarious tampon-as-battering-ram bit) — with the more political, including Trump, the absurdity of our current healthcare system where ridesharing services are asked to act as ambulances and possibly even therapists, and politically correct language. The special is totally hilarious and had me crying with laughter multiple times while watching. Julien Baker agrees:
