Candy Super-Stare

Candy sign to Relapse, release two-song single (listen)

Richmond metallic hardcore band Candy‘s 2018, Triple B Records-released debut album Good To Feel was met with a lot of love in the hardcore scene, and it had some crossover success too, so it’s no surprise that Candy just inked a deal with the larger Relapse Records. Their first release for the label is the two-song Super-Stare 7″. B-side “Win Free Love” is a straight-up hardcore ripper that recalls Candy’s earlier days, but “Super-Stare” sees them exploring slower, sludgier territory and it’s one of the most genre-defying songs the band has released yet. Here’s what they say:

“Super-Stare” is agoraphobia rather than claustrophobia. The ultimate trip; the song is a journey into a testing ground in which each living thing tries every day not to be eaten. As it unravels, the listener grows oppressed by the great weight of the music around them and gradually loses confidence in orderly civilization.

Listen to both new songs below.

As mentioned, Candy are on the Knocked Loose, Stick To Your Guns, Rotting Out, SeeYouSpaceCowboy tour, including the shows at The Chance in Poughkeepsie on Halloween and NYC’s Webster Hall on November 3 (tickets); and they’re also on the Ghostemane tour, along with tons of other openers varying by date. Candy play the Ghostemane shows at NYC’s Webster Hall on November 12 (also with 3TEETH) and Asbury (Park’s Stone Pony on November 13 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
