Carter Tanton releasing an album ft. Sharon Van Etten & Marissa Nadler (stream a new track)

Carter Tanton, who was in The War on Drugs and Lower Dens and led the projects Luxury Liners and Tulsa, is now releasing an album under his own name. It’s called Jettison the Valley and it comes out this Friday (3/4) via Western Vinyl (pre-order). The album features vocals from Sharon Van Etten on two songs, “Twentynine Palms” and “Through the Garden Gates,” and vocals from Marissa Nadler on the title track.

“Through the Garden Gates” with Sharon makes its premiere in this post. It’s a gentle folky song, and Sharon’s vocals are mostly backing harmonies, but if you like her stuff you’ll probably like this too. Listen below.
