Carter Tutti remix Tim Burgess & Peter Gordon (listen) ++ new Burgess book 'Vinyl Adventures'

burgess-gordon

Charlatans singer Tim Burgess and Arthur Russell associate Peter Gordon‘s collaborative LP, Same Language, Different Worlds is out in a couple weeks (9/2) via Burgess’ O Genesis label. (Pre-order.) The single is “Begin,” a lovely piece of bright, minimal synthpop, which you can check out below. That track was also handed over to ex-Throbbing Gristle members Chris Carter and Cosey Fanny Tutti (who have been making music for 30 years as Chris and Cosey). The pair remixed “Begin” into something more hypnotic, with gurgling arpeggiations and swelling synth waves. Tim told us that they were his first choice for a remix, saying, “They give a song a new lease of life. They find things I’d never have found. Their understanding of music is hard wired — and they just happen to be two of my favourite people in the world too.” That Carter Tutti remix makes its premiere right here:

You can stream the original below. Meanwhile, Tim Burgess has just published his second book. Titled Tim Book Two: Vinyl Adventures from Istanbul to San Francisco, it explores Burgess’ lifelong passion for records. Getting reccomendations from folks like Iggy Pop, Johnny Marr, David Lynch, Tutti and others, Burgess then travels the globe tracking down the records, learning the stories of the folks who are selling them and their record shops too. There is also an accompanying compilation album featuring some of the songs from his global finds, including The Durrutti Column, Love, Willie Nelson, Fad Gadget, Sibylle Baier and more. Tracklist for the LP and artwork for the compilation is below.
