Casey James Prestwood

Casey James Prestwood (Hot Rod Circuit) releasing 'Born Too Late' (stream a track)

Hot Rod Circuit have a little bit of country in their indie rock, but guitarist Casey James Prestwood has been diving head first into country music with his solo career. He’s been releasing solo music for about a decade now, and his newest album with backing band The Burning Angels, Born Too Late, will be out next week (3/3). HRC fans may very well dig this, but it’s not really worth comparing it to that band. Born Too Late is for fans of Gram Parsons and Merle Haggard (or fellow modern artists like Daniel Romano and Margo Price) and Casey really does it well. He’s as much a natural with this sound as he is with HRC’s, and like in that band, his technical skill as a guitarist comes through loud and clear. We’re premiering “Beer Tear Saturday Night” off the new album. Listen below.

Casey has a release show in his current hometown of Denver the day after the album comes out. Hot Rod Circuit are also touring this year, opening for Say Anything. That tour includes a NYC show on May 16 at Playstation Theater (tickets).
