Cass McCombs announces new LP 'Mangy Love' & tour, shares "Opposite House"

Cass McCombs already released one album this year, the debut by his jammy psych band The Skiffle Players (with members of Phil Lesh & Friends and Beachwood Sparks), and he contributed to the massive Grateful Dead tribute album, for which he covered “Dark Star” with Joe Russo, members of The National, The Walkmen, and more. Cass mentioned earlier in the year that he had a new solo album in the works too, and now that’s officially been announced.

The album’s called Mangy Love, and it comes out August 26 via ANTI-. It features contributions from Angel Olsen and Blake Mills, and was produced by Rob Schnapf and Dan Horne. The lead single is the laid-back “Opposite House,” which features Angel and has at least a couple hints of jazzy ’70s soft rock. Listen below (via Pitchfork).

Cass also announced a tour, which includes a Brooklyn show on October 28 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (5/27) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (5/25) at noon. All dates are listed below.
