Brooklyn freeform radio station WBAI shuts down abruptly after 60+ years

”Due to ongoing and continued projections of further financial losses at WBAI, local station operations are being discontinued as of October 7, 2019,” owners Pacifica Foundation said in a statement. ”We realize this news will come as a deep and painful shock, but we can no longer jeopardize the survival of the entire network.”

NYC's Lincoln Plaza Cinemas to close in January; space to stay a theater after renovations

The Upper West Side arthouse institution, which opened in 1981 will close when its lease is up in January. Building owners plan to keep it a cinema but whether the Lincoln Plaza programmers will remain involve remains to be seen.
