New Orleans-via-Brooklyn rapper Cavalier released his very good new album Private Stock about a month ago, and today he put out the video for "Holla Kid." A lot of rap gets called "jazzy" but "Holla Kid" goes beyond just using a looping jazz sample -- it's got a real-deal sax solo performed live by Tutty Amin. Watch the video below.

"Holla Kid" is sort of an anomaly on Private Stock, which usually favors a sort of psychedelic, soulful production style that's part '90s NYC rap, part modern. Most of the album was produced by the Kendrick Lamar and Solange co-signed Iman Omari, who also lends his voice to a few tracks, and other guests include Georgia Anne Muldrow and Quelle Chris, the latter of whom raps on two songs and co-produced one. Quelle Chris and Cavalier have been friends and collaborators for years, and if you like Quelle Chris' new much buzzed about album with Jean Grae but you haven't heard Private Stock, that's worth changing.
