Chicago-based drummer Greg Landfair Jr aka STIX is a member of Chance the Rapper's band, so it should be no surprise that the Friday Governors Ball headliner showed up to play with Stix at STIX JamNight at Schimanski (fka Verboten) in Williamsburg on Thursday night (6/1). The official Gov Ball After Dark event, which was announced just a week ago, listed Chance associates Nico Segal (fka Donnie Trumpet), Peter Cottontale, STIX and "special guests". The event, which usually takes place in Chicago, was a one-off special for NYC while Chance and band were in town.
"STIX WANTED TO PRESENT A PLATFORM FOR THE WORLDS MUSICIANS/SINGERS/RAPPERS TO LINK AND PLAY TOGETHER WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PUTTING THESE MUSICIANS IN THE SAME ROOM AS CHICAGO'S TOP ARTIST AND RISING STARS."
Fellow Chicago rapper and Chance collaborator Saba (who also played House of Vans last night; stay tuned for pictures from that show) was in the house too. Check out some Instagram videos and photos from the night below:
