More music-related NYC real estate news — the building at 151 Avenue B that jazz icon Charlie Parker once called home is on the market for $9.25 million:
The townhouse is divided into four full-floor apartments, and the garden floor is where legendary jazz player Charlie “Bird” Parker lived.
That apartment comes with a private garden that includes a koi pond, a parlor floor with original pocket doors and three fireplaces.
In a moving 2005 interview, Bird’s stepdaughter Kim Parker talks about what it was like to grow up in the apartment, which she loved, even though the back yard was concrete back then.
Bird apparently liked to keep his professional, musical life separate from home life, where classical music played — not jazz. – [NY Post]
