Perhaps you’ve heard about Nymphomaniac, the the film from Danish director / provocateur Lars Von Trier. You may have seen the 100% NSFW trailers for the film, featuring Uma Thurman, Shia LaBEouf, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg in the buff and more. Beyond the sex, what’s it about? The Official synopsis says it’s “the wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg).” The film opens on Christmas day in Denmark and will be released in two parts this spring in North America. If you haven’t seen the trailer (again, totally NSFW but was accidentally shown before a screening of kids movie Frozen last weekend), you can stream it below.

This is Charlotte Gainsbourg‘s third film with Von Trier (Antichrist and Melancholia being the others) and she’s contributed a song to Nymphomaniac‘s soundtrack, a cover of “Hey Joe” which was most famously done by Jimi Hendrix. Her version was produced by Beck (who produced 2010’s IRM) and puts a slinky spin on it, with nods to Hendrix’s version. It’s pretty good and you can stream it below. Gainsbourg was supposed to play the NYC Station to Station but she ended up dropping off the bill.
