Charlotte Gainsbourg @ Brooklyn Steel (pics, setlist)
Charlotte Gainsbourg stopped in NYC on her way to Coachella to play Brooklyn Steel on Tuesday night (4/9). The show was a make-up of sorts, having her Panorama 2018 show canceled (along with the rest of the day) due to severe weather. Perhaps it was all for the best, as there’s no way Charlotte’s striking stage design would’ve looked anywhere near as cool as it did at an afternoon festival set as it did at Brooklyn Steel. Charlotte and her band also sounded amazing for their “an evening with” set that included most of 2017’s Rest, this year’s Take 2 EP, previous albums IRM and 5:55, and even the title track from her 1986 album Charlotte Forever. She finished the night with her cover of Kanye West’s “Runaway” and her controversial debut single “Lemon Incest.”
