Amanda Mair

Swedish indiepop ingenue Amanda Mair is making her US live debut this Thursday (4/12) at Pianos. Just barely 17, Mair released her self-titled debut album on Labrador Records (Radio Dept., Acid House Kings) in February. The album was produced by The Mary Onettes’ Philip Ekström whose love of Big ’80s pop gives the songs a quirky flair that has garnered favorable comparisons to, yes, Kate Bush. That influence is evident on “House” which you can download at the top of this post, along with the album’s two other singles,”Sense” and “Doubt.” You can stream some songs at Spotify. The album is out in America on June 5.

The Pianos show is an early one — stage time 7PM — and Mair will be performing a “stripped down” set… so no orchestra probably. Advance tickets ($8) are available. No other North American dates to report. Click through for the “Sense” video.
