Today's SXSW lineup additions announcement wasn't the most exciting, but nestled in there is UK singer-songwriter Marika Hackman. She first came to our attention via her appearance at End of the Road 2015 where she played an impromptu set that featured an appearance from Laura Marling. It was around that time that Marika released her gorgeous debut album We Slept at Last, which really showcases her slightly spooky, baroque take on English Folk. She made the LP with producer Charlie Andrew who's worked with Alt-J and keeps things sounding modern but timeless. It's Marika's haunting voice and melodies, though, that really really draw you in. You can listen to We Slept at Last, and her debut mini album That Iron Taste as well as watch a few music videos, below.

Marika released a holiday EP last year and is currently wrapping up work on her new album. Let's hope she plays some shows outside of Austin while over for SXSW.
