Chelsea Wolfe shares "Vex" ft. Aaron Turner (Isis/Sumac)
Chelsea Wolfe‘s anticipated new album Hiss Spun comes out September 22 via Sargent House and she’s just released a second single from it. The first, “16 Psyche,” was the closest she’d ever come to driving hard rock, and new single “Vex” is very different. It starts out as sort of a somber, atmospheric industrial-leaning song, like the middle ground between Garbage and Explosions in the Sky but with Chelsea’s gothy tone still intact. Then Isis/Old Man Gloom/Sumac vocalist Aaron Turner comes in for some harsh growls, changing the vibe up entirely. Like several other songs on the album, “Vex” also has guitar by Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen. It’s quite a unique song in Chelsea’s discography and proves she’s creating no boundaries for her sound on Hiss Spun. Listen below.
