Al Scorch

Chicago punk-bluegrass singer Al Scorch releasing a new album on Bloodshot (stream "Lost At Sea")

Chicago singer/songwriter Al Scorch has a sound influenced by old timey country and bluegrass but also raw driving punk. It sometimes sounds like a more bluegrass version of Neutral Milk Hotel, a comparison that makes even more sense when you consider Al frequently collaborates with Laura Carter, who’s toured as a member of NMH. His new album Circle Round the Signs comes out May 13 via Bloodshot (pre-order), and we’re premiering its newest single “Lost At Sea.” Check it out below.

Al also has tour dates coming up, including a Brooklyn show this Wednesday (4/13) at Jalopy Theater (315 Columbia St). It’s part of the venue’s free weekly ‘Roots n’ Ruckus’ series, and also features Miss Ida Blue, Feral Foster and more TBD. 9 PM start, and Al’s on at 10. More info here. All dates are listed below.
