“There was grumbling about the lines for transportation and for beer. Being a state park, the site has strict rules for alcohol sales. The beer gardens were relatively small and forced to the margins of the site. The producers should carve out a bigger space for the beer gardens next time, but the limits on consumption — not only the deterrence of the long lines, but a five-drink limit per person — was undoubtedly a factor in the sheer amiability of the festival crowd. It’s a free country, of course, but unlimited beer consumption by a huge crowd in hours of hot sun is a recipe for unpleasantness. I didn’t see a single fight or even a cross word, let alone anyone heaving up their vegetarian corn dog.” [The Star Ledger]

“. Tickets weren’t cheap, with three-day passes costing $258 and single-day tickets $89. Paul Tollett, president of Goldenvoice, co-promoter of All Points West, conceded all was less than perfect. “There’s a lot to learn from a first-time experience,” he said. “Now that we have the data, we understand what we have to fine-tune.” Goldenvoice also produces the Coachella festival in southern California, which has drawn growing praise, and bigger acts, since it began nearly a decade ago. All Points West wasn’t Coachella East, but it did have flashes of potential.” [Wall Street Journal]

Critics have said K’naan has “a sound that fuses Bob Marley, conscious American hip hop, and brilliant protest poetry.”[2] His voice and style have been compared to Eminem,[3] but his subject matter is very different; according to K’naan, he makes “urgent music with a message”, talking about the situation in his homeland of Somalia and calling for an end to violence and bloodshed [Wikipedia]

OhMyNews: How did it feel for you guys to play the first ever All Points West Music Festival?

YourVegas: It was awesome! It was the last of our American festival spots and it just very cool.

How did you guys feel about your set at All Points West?

It went great! We were a little tired only having had a couple of hours of sleep and it was the end of a long week and we got up there and put on a show! And it was a real thrill to get up on stage and see the New York City skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Out of all the bands that played on Saturday who did you enjoy seeing the most?

Well … Radiohead! We played with them on the same day at Lollapalooza, we got to see them at Lollapalooza and then we got to see them again at All Points West. And they were just so amazing!

They were unreal!

They really were!
