Clearance At Your Leisure

Clearance releasing 'At Your Leisure' on Topshelf (stream it)

Chicago indie rockers Clearance have been around for about five years, and they released their debut album Rapid Rewards back in 2015. They since signed to Topshelf Records, and that label will release their sophomore album At Your Leisure this Friday (7/27) (pre-order). It was recorded by Dave Vettraino (who works with other Chicago bands like Melkbelly and NE-HI) and mastered by Total Control’s Mikey Young (who works with countless awesome bands). The album is sort of one part Pavement, one part jangly ’60s Brit-psych, and if you like either or both of those things, you’ll probably find that At Your Leisure is a breezy, enjoyable listen. Singer and songwriter Mike Bellis tells us the album is, “Our earnest attempt at making simple and direct guitar-pop songs, or otherwise throwing a few needles in the camel’s eye of the Spotify age. Futile, maybe, but we’re happy with what we came up with.” A full stream premieres below.

Clearance, who we caught in NYC opening for Widowspeak last year, are hitting the road again this August. The tour begins with a hometown release show at Hideout on 8/3, and they’ll be back in NYC for a show on August 11 at Trans-Pecos with Spud Cannon and Hollywood Royalty (tickets).
