Cold Beat touring around Riot Fest

San Francisco’s Cold Beat released their terrific third album, Chaos by Invitation, back in the spring and if you haven’t checked it out, it’s recommended for fans of gothy postpunk, blippy synthpop and other early ’80s sounds. Hannah Lew, who used to be in Grass Widow, is a great songwriter who doesn’t skimp on the catchy hooks, and there are some moments of beauty as well. You can stream the whole thing below.

Cold Beat are playing Riot Fest in Chicago next month and are using the opportunity to do a little touring. They’ll hit NYC after Riot Fest for two shows: Park Church Co-Op on September 21 with War Bubble and Liberation, and Mercury Lounge on September 22 with Rips. Tickets for the Co-Op show are on sale now and Mercury Lounge goes on sale Friday, August 25 at noon (same ticket link for both).
