Colin Hay Fierce Mercy

Colin Hay releasing 'Fierce Mercy,' touring (dates & new song stream)

Men At Work frontman Colin Hay launched a solo career after his band’s 1986 breakup, and it got something of a boost with younger audiences in the mid-2000s thanks to Zach Braff having him on the Garden State soundtrack and on Scrubs. Colin’s set to release a new solo album, Fierce Mercy, on March 3 via Compass Records (pre-order), and we’re premiering the album’s new single “Come Tumblin’ Down.” It’s a dose of twangy heartland rock, rooted way more in the music of America than of the land down under (sorry, had to). Listen, along with the video for previous single “A Thousand Million Reasons,” below.

There’s also a documentary on Colin coming out on January 30 called Waiting For My Real Life. Here’s the synopsis:

[The film] tells the inspiring story of Colin Hay, acclaimed singer-songwriter and former Men At Work frontman.

At once universal and wholly singular, the film asks what happens when the spotlig ht fades and the fame goes away. From the dizzying heights of multiplatinum rock-stardom to the staggering lows of artistic obscurity and addiction, the film traces Colin’s long, slow climb back to relevance and resonance.

Ultimately, commitment to his craft and the development of a truly one-of-a-kind stage show have set Colin on the path that has led to a deeply satisfying solo career, one that is still ascending. With sold-out shows, critically acclaimed albums and a word-of-mouth reputation for providing one of the finest nights out a music fan could ask for, Colin finds himself at the top of his powers and just getting started. This is a music documentary unlike any other.

Watch the trailer below. Colin will be in NYC for a live Q&A and a screening of the film on February 1 at City Winery (tickets). He does the same thing at City Winery Chicago on the film’s release date.

Colin is also touring, including a NYC show on March 18 at the Concert Hall at NY Society for Ethical Culture. Tickets for that show are on sale now. All dates are listed below.
