Comedian Chris D'Elia accused of sexual misconduct with underage girls by multiple women

Content warning: this article contains depictions of sexual misconduct and harassment with minors.

Actor/comedian Chris D’Elia — who has three Netflix specials; hosts the Congratulations podcast; has appeared in Workaholics, You, The Good Doctor, and more; and whose Eminem impression went viral in 2018/2019 — has been accused of grooming, harassing, and soliciting nudes from minors by multiple women, The Independent reports.

The allegations began with a woman named Simone Rossi tweeting, “i still can’t believe netflix cast chris d’elia as the pedophile in season to of ‘you’ like the literal IRONY,” and then going on to tweet what appear to be screenshots of D’Elia asking for nude photos and asking her to make out when she was 16 and he was 34. She then wrote:

imagine being 16 and being groomed by a stand up comedian twice ur age and the only reason you never met up and never got physically m*lested was because u had just gotten a boyfriend ur own age.

for the longest time i thought it was embarrassing for ME that i was interacting with this older man but he was the one who DM’d me on twitter and was the one who was twice my age and was the one that used the power imbalance between us to his advantage so f*ck chris d’elia

i am also definitely not the only underage girl he did this too. just an FYI.

for the longest time i thought this was just a funny story to tell at parties when i realized what happened isn’t normal and that he was and could still be doing this to younger girls and it’s my job to say something

fuck you @chrisdelia and also @netflix i highly doubt casting this creep as a pedophile was a coincidence. at least i got to see him fake die.

After Rossi’s tweeting started going viral, other women began coming forward with their own allegations, and the @SheRatesDogs Twitter account started sharing several of them. One woman wrote, “fuck you @chrisdelia. you solicited nudes from minors while u were in vancouver and tried to fuck my friend when we were 16, and when i called u out on twitter you told her you’d ruin her life if i didn’t delete it. absolute pedophile scumbag.”

Another posted screenshots of “the DMs from Chris D’Elia being creepy and persistent to me when I was 17.”

Another wrote, “although i’ve been publicly saying it for years, FUCK Chris D’elia. he solicited nudes off of me when i was 17 years old and constantly messaged me whenever he was touring vancouver and asked me to come backstage to his shows.”

Comedian Emma Arnold retweeted one of the @SheRatesDogs tweets and wrote, “When I was a brand new comic, one of Delia’s best friends warned me to never send Chris nudes bc he made them into memes and showed to other male comics at shows. Looks like some of those memes were probably of underage girls. No wonder I don’t miss comedy yet.”

Comedian Amy Miller (Viceland, Comedy Central, Doug Loves Movies, Kill Rock Stars, etc) tweeted, “If you cowards had fired Chris D’Elia a long time ago for being bad at the job (standup comedy) he wouldn’t have had time to creep. But you LIVE to say ‘good set’ to men taller than you.”

Comedian Lane Moore (Tinder Live, The Onion, The New Yorker, etc) tweeted, “who could’ve known Chris D’Elia was a creep other than anyone who’s ever looked at him or heard him say things.”

Former SNL cast member Sasheer Zamata tweeted, “‘And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!’ – Chris D’Elia.”

Django Gold, a writer for Colbert, tweeted, “this Chris D’Elia shit is wild, but I guess it’s always the first person you suspect.”

Also now making the rounds on social media is a clip of D’Elia on his podcast saying, “You ever see a fucking 14-year-old? She looks 30,” as well as other tweets where D’Elia had joked about pedophilia and rape. He has also been accused of deleting tweets in the time since these allegations started coming out.

D’Elia has not yet responded to the allegations. UPDATE: D’Elia denies the accusations. ”I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” he said. ”All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me.”
