Continental Bar staying open another three months

East Village bar and former rock club Continental Bar — home of 5 shots of anything for $12 (previously $10) — was supposed to close yesterday (7/1) after 27 years but they’re actually staying open another three months. As EV Grieve points out, Continental owner Trigger posted on Facebook: “[M]y lease at Continental got extended 3 months! We have till approximately early October so please come by …”

As EV Grieve also points out, permits to demolish Continental Bar and surrounding buildings were filed in March, and the buildings are reportedly going to be replaced with a seven-story, 66,000-square-foot office building, with 6,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor.

Remember, if you stop by Continental for one more round of 5 shots of anything for $12 in the next three months, don’t say “literally.”
