Converge's Ben Koller broke elbow after "freak accident"; GoFundMe launched

Sad news: drummer Ben Koller of Converge, Mutoid Man, All Pigs Must Die and other bands has broken his elbow after a “freak accident” and “required immediate surgery with an extended recovery period before he’s able to start physical therapy, and ultimately a long road before he is able to be behind the kit again.” If you’d like to help out, a GoFundMe has been launched to help Ben with his medical bills. It went up yesterday and already raised over $17k of its $20k goal. Here’s the full campaign description:

On Wednesday December 12th, our friend and legendary drummer Ben Koller (Converge, Mutoid Man, All Pigs Must Die, Killer Be Killed) had a freak accident that resulted in a broken elbow. His injury required immediate surgery with an extended recovery period before he’s able to start physical therapy, and ultimately a long road before he is able to be behind the kit again. The accruing medical bills – as well as the impending loss of steady income through touring, writing and recording – is a massive hit to him, his wife, and their children. Please consider making a donation to help our friend through this difficult time. Any amount helps.

We wish Ben a speedy recovery! You can donate here.

UPDATE: Mutoid Man have revealed that Chris Maggio (of Converge offshoot Wear Your Wounds and formerly of Trap Them and Coliseum) will fill in for Ben on their upcoming EU/UK tour with Mastodon and Kvelertak. They write: “Thanks to everyone acting swiftly with overwhelming support for Ben via the gofundme campaign. For those who’ve asked: we want to clarify that Mutoid Man will still be doing the upcoming Mastodon / Kvelertak European tour with the amazing Christopher Maggio of Wear Your Wounds, Trap Them, Coliseum, etc. on drums.”
