Having begun her tour in Austin during SXSW (where one of her shows was a BV day party), Courtney Marie Andrews landed in NYC for a show at Mercury Lounge last night (3/27), just a few days after releasing her new album (and first for Fat Possum), May Your Kindness Remain. The album is a brilliant mix of the folk, rock, country and soul sounds of the ’60s and ’70s, and Courtney ties it all together with her soaring, timeless voice, which was very much on display at the Mercury Lounge show. The show was opened by Matt Dorrien, who covered Randy Newman’s “Dayton Ohio 1903” and The Sound of Music‘s “My Favorite Things” during his set, and also joined CMA on stage during hers. Pictures of the show are in the gallery above.
