Fuck Tumors Hardcore Benefit

Cro-Mags, Sheer Terror, CIV & more playing a cancer benefit for 3-year old boy

A bunch of hardcore bands, including NYHC veterans Cro-Mags, Sheer Terror and CIV, are playing a benefit for three-year old boy Alexander Owens who’s battling NF (Neurofibramatosis), “which causes painful tumors throughout the body.” The show happens at NYC’s Highline Ballroom on May 29, also with Wisdom In Chains, Nine Lives and Extinction AD on the bill. Tickets are on sale now.

Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph is also running a race in Hawaii to raise money for Alexander. Here’s more from John:

I’m racing the IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Kona, Hawaii on October 8, 2016, and I’m doing it for my NF Hero “Alexander the Great” Owens, a little boy with NF (neurofibromatosis).

NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain.

Alex was diagnosed with NF at 4 months, and turns 3 years old on Oct. 12, 2015. Because of NF, he has migraines and 2 tumors, a large tumor on his back, and a tumor on his brain. His brain tumor has a 50% chance of causing blindness and the one on his back is inoperable and does not respond well to chemo or radiation. Alex has to travel from his home in Connecticut to the Children’s Hospital of Philly every 3 months for MRIs and specialist visits, but Alex is a HAPPY and mellow kid, a little shy but compassionate.
