The night will kick off with an exclusive reception for sponsors and VIP donors, followed by intimate, short acoustic sets by the artists for all Music for Democracy (MFD) supporters. The launch will also feature a panel discussion with Q&A on music and political activism with Air Americas David Bender, Democracy for Americas Jim Dean and others.
This private event will take place at the elegant St. Raphaels Cathedral. General admission tickets are available with a $100 donation. VIP donor tickets available for $500 and sponsor-level donor tickets for $1,000. In addition, a limited number of $50 general admission tickets will be available. All proceeds go to Music for Democracys Be the Change Get Out The Vote campaign.
Be the Change is a multi-tiered campaign that promises to target the youth vote in an unprecedented way. By leveraging the power of music communities online, Music for Democracy has the potential to engage thousands of young voters, increasing youth voter turnout this November in support of Sen. Barack Obama.
This Get Out The Vote campaign has the capacity to revolutionize the power of artists to make a quantifiable impact on the outcome of the elections, harnessing technology and culture in ways that will be key in this new age of wired political participation, said Bear Kittay, national director of Music for Democracy. Were thrilled to have Vampire Weekend support our program to help elect Barack Obama in November."
